City of Apple Valley

Apple Valley is a vibrant community in Dakota County with a population of 50,000 residents. The city has a compact downtown core with a good existing trail and sidewalk network. With funding from the Active Community Planning program, the community has expanded its comprehensive planning process by addressing health and active-living throughout the plan.

As part of the comprehensive planning process, the City and its consultant, HKGI, worked with the community to form a new Vision for Apple Valley that identifies healthy and active-living as a central part of the community’s future. The plan includes an element on Parks and Active Living and one of its 11 goals is to make Apple Valley “Healthy and Active”
